Masada is the site of an ancient Roman Jewish Fort. This place is very important for the Jews as a symbol of Jewish resistance. In 74 AD, some 1000 Jews committed a mass suicide to escape capture enslavement by Romans Pagans. This is well documented as the Siege of Masada by Flavius Josepheus - an educated Jew who accepted Pagan Roman rulers as masters. This is one of the first important clashes between the Abrahamic Religions and the Pagans - the clashes that were finally settled when Constantine I converted the Roman Empire to Christainity - there by ending Pagan worship for good in the western civilization!
